Collections Project Coordinator

Carstairs and Didsbury Public Libraries are hiring a summer student to help transform our Junior and Teen collections into an engaging dynamic shelving system that makes it easier for young readers to browse, discover, and fall in love with books.

 

This is a hands-on project where you’ll gain real-world experience in library services, collection organization, merchandising, and community-focused programming.

Examples of Jobs our volunteers do:

 

  • Shelving - Place our returned materials back on our shelves in there rightful places. Materials will either be arranged alphabetically by authors last name or using the Dewey Decimal system.

  • Shifting - Keep our shelves looking neat by straightening and aligning our materials.

  • Shelf Reading - Place miss-shelved materials in their proper places.

  • Picklist - Pick books off our shelves to be held for patrons or sent to other libraries.

  • Cleaning, dusting, etc - Keep the library cleanly by wiping materials, clearing our Lego wall, dusting and more.

 

 

We will do our best to match you with a job you're interested in when it becomes available. Thank you for your interest!

You will be given a Volunteer orientation on your first day to familiarize yourself with our establishment.
